Facilitation

Facilitation is often used as a preventative measure to ward off or in the beginning stages of a dispute. Facilitation may be used by two or more groups, and is designed for the neutral third party (facilitator) to guide all individuals in the group to identify their interests, understand their relationships, open channels of communication and establish contact and understanding by all members of the group.
Facilitation may be used when parties are refusing to talk to each other to bring all sides to the table and allow all parties to talk effectively, or where parties can talk to each other but nothing is solved or accomplished during such talks. There may or may not be an official “settlement agreement” during the facilitation process, depending on the desires and needs of all participants.
