Certified Mediator, At Your Service

Donita King spent the first 24 years of her career as a corporate in-house and general counsel for Fortune 100 companies. This is where she learned about Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) practices that focus on reaching agreements through mediation, collaboration, and facilitation methods.
As a founding partner of CMG Collaborative Law Offices, Donita grew her knowledge of different ways to resolve conflict. She became a certified mediator trainer during this time.
Upon her partner’s retirement, she changed the name of the firm to Donita King Law Offices in 2016. Ms. King continues her commitment to providing individuals and companies alike a wide range of effective ADR services before turning to litigation. As an experienced certified mediator, she has helped countless clients resolve issues without the need to go to court or final hearing.
Ms. King is certified as a mediator by the Supreme Court of Virginia and is an approved ADR trainer and mentor, also by the Supreme Court of Virginia. In addition, she is an approved Collaborative Law Trainer and FINRA authorized arbitrator and mediator.
Ms. King is an active member of the greater Richmond community. Ms. King is a member of the Virginia, Pennsylvania, and D.C. State Bars. She also serves as a University of Richmond School of Law Adjunct Professor of Mediation. In Virginia, Donita King previously served on the Virginia Bar Association Joint ADR Council (2015 Chair), and served for several years on the Governor of Virginia’s Interagency Dispute Resolution Council. Ms. King currently serves as a board member of the Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Board by appointment of the Virginia Supreme Court. Ms. King has been active with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Women in Business as well. Se habla espanol.
As of 2019, Ms. King is one of a select number of participants who have met all the requirements and received certification as an appellate mediator for the Court of Appeals of Virginia Mediation Pilot Project.
When she’s not in the office helping clients, Donita enjoys spending time with her Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. As an animal lover, she supports the ASPCA and Humane organizations.
Growing up in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic background, Donita enjoys meeting people from other places. She enjoys the performing arts and is a continuous student of ancient civilizations. Additionally, she’s an active member of her church.
